New Jersey Professional Development and Outreach Group

This group for New Jersey middle and high school math teachers is a program of the Institute for Advanced Study's Park City Mathematics Institute.  Programs include several weekend afternoon meetings throughout the academic year and a weeklong summer program, the Institute for New Jersey Mathematics Teachers.  The NJPDO is facilitated by Brian Hopkins of the Saint Peter's College Department of Mathematics.

Upcoming meetings:

Saturday 6 March, Saint Peter's College, 11am - 3pm in the Library's 2nd floor conference room: Zome building party---the 120-cell (in conjunction with Hopkins' College Geometry students at SPC).

Saturday 17 April (?) at Peddie, local host Mark Sawula.

Saturday 8 May, Saint Peter's College, 11am - 3pm in the Library's 2nd floor conference room: Zome building party---the truncated 120-cell (in conjunction with Hopkins' College Geometry students at SPC).

Institute for New Jersey Mathematics Teachers:

This summer program was first held in 2007 with Numbers! From Division to Cryptography, based on the PCMI 2001 course.  The 2008 topic was Take the Number Train, based on the PCMI 2004 course.  The 2009 program was It All Adds Up! using material compiled and developed by Hopkins. INJMT will be held again in 2010, Sunday 15 August through Friday 20 August.  As before, there will be twelve teachers in residence at an Ocean Grove NJ bed & breakfast.  Watch for additional information.
